TLC was emPOWERed

If you were not at the Chester County Historical Society on Wednesday and Thursday evening for Trail Creek Outfitters Wild and Scenic Film Festival, be sure to put it on your calendar for 2015--it will take place in late February.

It is locally hosted and sponsored by Trail Creek Outfitters and benefits two area organizations: TLC and Stroud Water Research Center.  Together our organizations protect valuable natural resources.   The films are originally submitted to the National Wild and Scenic Film Festival which is held in Nevada City, CA and then a few are chosen to be part of the touring film festival.  The theme of the 2014 Film Festival was emPOWERment.

THANK YOU SPONSORS AND IN KIND DONORS!
THANK YOU TO ALL OF OUR GENEROUS FOOD DONORS!
After the closure of the two nights, we left contemplating things like: how our national parks have been impacted by drilling, our forefathers had the foresight to protect large tracts of land for future generations, how we can save the rhino, how a homeless boy became inspired by nature, and how when we are inspired we can make a difference.    A lot of these thoughts are mirrored in Aldo Leopold's, A Sand County Almanac which discusses his land ethic in great detail.  If you left the event feeling inspired, we encourage you to participate in the Community Read and join TLC, Longwood Gardens, The Bayard Taylor Library, and numerous land conservation organizations as we discuss how Leopold's Land Ethic is an important part of our work and mission.  Our next Community Read event is taking place on March 6th at the Bayard Taylor Library from 6:30 to 8 PM.  Click HERE for more information about the Community Read initiative.

One of the most amazing and wonderful things about the film festival is the outpouring of community support.  Local businesses give their time and resources to help us make the event successful each year.  We could not do it without them!  All of our food and drinks were donated by generous businesses.   Francine Covelli and her business, Nourish Juice Bar & Cafe have coordinated a beautiful spread of delicious appetizers for years.  They work with other local businesses who assist in donating food. We just wanted to recognize everyone who helped to make this event a staple in our community!

If you missed the event--here is one of the films that showed during Thursday night's line-up.
